The Destination Earth (DestinE) project is a flagship initiative by the European Commission aimed at creating a highly accurate digital model of the Earth, often referred to as a “digital twin” of the Earth. EUMETSAT, the ECMWF and ESA are the three entrusted agencies selected by the EC to implement Destination Earth . Each entity will bring its own expertise and strength to support the initiative. EUMETSAT is responsible for the DestinE Data Lake, ESA for the DestinE Core Service Platform and ECMWF for the two initial digital twins on extreme weather and climate adaptation.
The industry session will inform about the upcoming ITT for contributing to Destination Earth. The procurement will be for DEFAIR a Destination Earth Framework for preparing AI-ready data. The presentation will cover:
- an overview of Destination Earth Data Lake services,
- a description of functionality, services and usage of DEFAIR,
- information about the procurement process,
- followed by a Q & A session.
